- Some of our candles feature wood wick. We only utilize all natural, smokeless, non-toxic and biodegradable wood wicks.
what's that i smell?
- All our fragrances are ALWAYS phthalate-free!
What even is a phthalate?
These far too commonly found group of chemicals that are used in a variety of plastics and personal care products are Endocrine-Disrupting chemicals and SVOC's that are hugely disruptive to our reproductive, neurological and developmental systems. In short, FOE not FRIEND.
- In addition to phthalates, we use fragrances that are reproductive toxin, organ toxin, and acute toxin free.
- All our fragrances meet RIFM and IFRA standards.
- Our fragrances exclude any materials contained on the California Prop 65 list.
how to properly burn a candle
MOST IMPORTANT!
- You can prolong your candles life by trimming the wick down to 1/4" prior to burning to ensure a clean-burning flame.
- For the first burn, it is super important to burn the candle 1 hour for every 1" in diameter (ex. 3 hrs for 3" across) or the candle could create a memory ring and encourage tunneling.
Why does wick trimming matter so much?
Leaving your wick too long:
- can cause the flame to dance out of control or even mushroom
- will make the wax burn down 25% faster and shorten the lifespan of your candle
- can produce soot because even though soy wax burns very cleanly any candle will produce soot around the rim of the vessel if the wick is too large and burning too hot.
Pro Tip: To extend the life and scent shelf-life of your candle, we recommend not to burn a candle for more than 4 hours at a time.
STORAGE:
Store candles in a cool, dark and dry place with the lid on to keep them clean of dust and debris (which are flammable if you don't remove before burning), and to help protect the wax and fragrance. Highly fragrant candles have a life span of 6 to 12 months, depending on the scent.
SEEMINGLY OBVIOUS BUT IMPORTANT WARNINGS:
- A burning candle is HOT! Always burn a candle at least 12 inches away from flammable objects and surfaces.
- Never leave a child or a furry friend alone in a room with a burning candle.
- Extinguish the flame when there's about 1/2" of wax left and before it burns down to the bottom of the vessel.
- Candle wax and water don't mix! This can cause the wax to splatter or spark the wick.
- Avoid moving a candle while it is burning or while the wax is liquified.
